WORD LOVE

KILL ‘EM ALL

09.09.09

Holding a mildly less manic crowd than usual bar the carnival midget in Room 3 and a seeming abundance of Hawaiian men, Fabric’s all-star Kill ‘Em All x Durrr x Girlcore party on Friday was thus ever-more indulgently enjoyable.
On after Stopmakingme’s early disco-ish set, Filthy Dukes just go right ahead and wantonly play Popof’s ‘Serenity’ Noob remix whilst he is due on at 4.30am. Whilst Aeroplane unexpectedly played summer chooon ‘I’ll Get You’ by Classixx and of course their remix/cover ft. Au Revoir Simone of Friendly Fires’ ‘Paris’ whereupon we were literally forced by gunpoint to join in the mass emotive sing-along that burst through the entire room.

Riton lived up to his reputation of administering mad skills on the decks playing an intense set of ‘Pon di Floor’ to Mowgli’s ‘Con Alegria’ (Solo More Cowbell remix- who can resist more cowbell?) and ‘party banger’ Duck Sauce- ‘Grand Steppin’ from their new EP. Whilst Room 2 was a little less ‘banger’, a little more ’slapper’, with Durrr showcasing In Flagranti’s sexually disturbing visuals with groove filled italo-disco-disco between Rory Phillips, Lovely Jonjo and the lot, miles (ok, two doors) away from lairy indie punters-filled Room 1.

Girlcore were at the helm upstairs, featuring Genghis Clan tracks complete with a Hawaiian beach party theme (who knows?) with Isa GT, Naomi// and the other ones. The former played some sort of horrible dub rave x baile funk whilst latter Girlcorer dropped Brodinski & Noob and the like. However, Cooly G, ‘deep-tech house’ steeped in reluctant dubstep UK funky girl of the moment was the main attraction playing a varied set including Claude VonStroke’s remix of ‘War Paint’ sparking off our dramatically ironic dance-off whilst her crew look on mildly displeased, so we ran back to Room 1 beckoning us with that acid-ic Renaissance Man remix of ‘Peanuts Club’. A haven, if my boyfriend didn’t suffer from a nut allergy and collapse before Popof.

Nuh uh girl, you’re thinking Nat Self

he just made an Edwin Starr bootleg, don’t think it’s getting a “remix package”
