So I was in bus blighted 93 Feet East on Monday at a friend’s night, and amongst the many, many records he played by bands that I really should already know about, one stood out, a track by New Yorkers Silk Flowers.
Now maybe the teen goth in me never really got ‘closure’, my acid house e-piphany came on (up?) so fast but damn I liked what I was hearing, ice cold synths, a bare skeletal drum machine that seemed to be just a beat out of time and vocals pitched (literally) somewhere between Ian Curtis and Andrew Eldritch.
Even better now that I’m a proper grown up and spend my evenings slumped on the sofa playing the Xbox rather than writing piss poor poetry about ‘THE DARKNESS WITHIN’ (translation my teenage inability to get laid), I can appreciate it without feeling the need to wear ridiculous winkle pickers and troublingly tight leather trousers, a definite bonus.
Like the sound of that, then get your gloom on to this track off their recent self titled debut album.
