This Saturday, one of the oldest Bugs in the tech-house game, Steve has been snapped up as the next ‘A Night With…’ headliner. Having his own prestigious labels Poker Flat, Dessous and Audiomatique means he’s worked with haggard legends like Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink and Matthias Tanzmann. Expect some techno up close and intimate in your face all night in a sweaty den.

Following last Saturday’s birthday shenanigans we’re right back on it this weekend with the launch of a new night, NEW!

Just to give you a little background on this, when we started Hot Pockets, we did so because we wanted to showcase some of the amazing new music we come across and love.*

Now whilst we’ve been happily doing that, the problem with 7″s is they’re quite expensive to produce, especially if you’re printing lush sleeves and using coloured vinyl, and sadly as we’re hardly Rockefellers, this limits us to putting one 3 or 4 a year.

So alongside the sevens we’ve decided to start doing a quarterly CD compilation, a round-up of all that is new and wonderful, and to go with this we’ll be running a monthly night at 93 Feet East, showing off bands from the compilations and the kind of bands we’d love to feature on the CD**.

Each compilation CD will come complete with a little book featuring interviews and features on the bands, and hopefully should be dirt cheap, so a great introduction to all sorts of new music.

Anyway to kick things off we’ve got quite a monster lineup, with one of our favourite acts to emerge this year Silver Columns, playing live in the man hall. Emerging all mysterious like earlier this year with the falsetto pop genius that was Browbeaten, SC went onto release one of my favourite albums of the year.

Joining them on the live stage is Hot Pockets own :Kinema: who should just about have recovered now from the epic stage invasion at their last London gig and another of our current obsessions, the excellent Danimal Kingdom.

If that wasn’t enough taking control of the decks we’re joined by Kill Em All’s finest the Filthy Dukes, Moshi Moshi DJs, Lovers & Gamblers and thisaintnodisco. As we said it’s going to be B I G.

Following the disastrous cleaning job after their 36 hour affair that is On & On & On… Fabric unleash their new night that’s halfway between, On.

Much more palatable for the part-time raver, they’ve featured a line-up from the likes of The Revenge and Holy Ghost, to one half of Hot Natured Jamie Jones, Tiefschwarz and a Room 3 of Berghain’s Steffi, Tama Sumo and Lakuti.

Very quick one but if you’re in London tonight and fancy not only having a great night out but applying a little salve to you no doubt blackened soul then hotfoot it to Cargo where War Child are hosting this year’s Army of You party.

It’s a great line-up, with the likes of The Invisible, O. Children and Becomign Real playing live, and Disco 3000 (Erol, of course), Friendly Fires, Casper C, Oneman and Solo DJ’ing, but more importantly it’s an even better cause.

Set up to help children whose lives have been made frankly intolerably shit thanks to the cuntish actions of adults, War Child are active in some of the planet’s most dangerous war zones – Iraq, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

It really doesn’t take much to figure out that they are a cause worth supporting, that you get a fun night out of it is a bonus. Tickets are just £9 in advance (buy from WeGotTickets as they’re giving 20% of their booking fee to the charity) or £12 on the door.

Detroit legend Theo Parrish joins Parisian Get The Curse’s Redshape and London’s Actress and Alex Jones to cover all spectrums of electronic music tonight at the second instalment of new night Hybridlife.

10PM – 6AM tonight at the Red Gallery (under The Foundry), 1-3 Rivington St, London EC2A 3JL.

If Slutty Fringe lived in Philadelphia it would be awesome on so many levels, not least cos we could gorge ourselves on the highly regarded philly cheese steaks, but also cos we could attend the best party ever in Making Time.

Tonight for example The Rapture & Holy Ghost play live, RVNG INTL slacker Dave P does his celebrity DJ thing inbetween, Rocktits get all psychedelic on your bum in the basement and Pink Skull, Adam Sparkles and Broadzilla dudes take over the hypercage  and play a heady mix of rad new wave, house, nowave, disco, electro, acidrain and sparklemotion.

Le sigh…

So instead we make do with this mix from Adam Sparkles of tracks selected by Pink Skull and Broadzilla DJs and includes music from the likes of In Flagranti, Tame Impala, Yello, Pilooski, Pete Herbert, and Hot Chocolate.

This Saturday we return to 93 Feet East, for the official start of our new monthly HAUS residency. To celebrate we’ve booked the England football team who will be taking on plucky new jacks USA.

Kick off is at 7.30pm, though as they wouldn’t fit in the courtyard they’ll be playing offsite and the match will be screened in both rooms at the venue.

Once that’s out of the way we will be getting freaky on the dancefloor with a masterclass in acid house and disco from Justin Robertson and Soft Rocks.

Elsewhere Sports Casual will be going full on Bermondsey Balearic, :Kinema: will be  sure to set the world in motion with their anthemic electro pop, and finally Tony and I will be bringing up the rear.

Speaking of which we’ve even booked an economy room at The Ibis on Commercial Street for a post match roast if anyone’s interested.
