The first exhibition of the eponymous graphic design journal, Typographica is now on a the Kemistry Gallery in Shoreditch, London and well worth a visit. The exhibition, curated by Rick Poynor, founder of Eye magazine and author of the book itself showcases the groundbreaking & now legendary visual communication publication from 1949.

The exhibition was on as part of the London Design Festival and the Icon Design Trail, but continues up until the 31st of October.

Something For The Weekend 1

03.09.09

concvieve

The first in our occassional/regular series of things to do over the next few days. Apologies for the London bias but until we either muscle up some foreign correspondents or someone invites us out to their city you’ll just have to bear with us on this one.

A Change Is Gonna Come

07.08.09

The eagle eyed amongst you may well have clocked the tagline ‘Version 2.0 Soon Come!’ that has sat under our title for the past 12 months or so… Well come the end of August all our wishful thinking will become reality when we unveil the brand new, beautifully designed, next generation, 2nd edition of Slutty Fringe.

Such an event will no doubt be marked with national holidays, animal sacrifices and tributes of gold, frankincense and myrrh and rightly so, but we wanted to do something too, give back a little something to you, the fans.

So on Saturday August 29th as the new site is launched and networks around the world buckle trying to cope with the increased demand, we shall be kicking back and throwing a party in our hometown of London to celebrate (ourselves) and you are all invited.

Feadz Will Roll

02.07.09

EDB6yrs-bday

I’m never totally sure if we’re supposed to be over Ed Banger. Doubly so since last week’s brutal Stalinist editorial witch hunt after we were  described as being a ‘Banging Electro Blog’.

Anyway whether we’re feigning indifference or not, I’m sure they couldn’t care less and there’s a big Ed Banger party at The Coronet here in London next week marking their 6 1/2 birthday, that will no doubt be big fun.

If like me though you’ll be literally 100 yards away at the sexier Magic Waves Festival and feel left out/too old then you can download this mix Feadz has knocked together and throw your own crazy Ed Banger party in your flat.

Actually I think it’s time for Feadz to put Uffie down and get on with a solo album, I was listening to some of those early releases on Bpitch tthe other day and they still sound solid, something I’m sure he’ll be happy to hear.

The Best Things In Life Are Free…

22.04.09

sf_cargoapril_600

Well hopefully you should already be aware that this Friday we’re back at Cargo for one of our own parties, and even if I do say so myself I think we’ve done ourselves proud with this one.

Just in case you’ve had your blinkers on let’s have a look at what you’re going to get for the zero price of admission. Playing live on the night we have My Tiger My Timing, Portasound, Line and Band of Skulls, not bad you might be thinking and you know what you’d be right.

But that’s not enough, oh no no, so joining TP and myself in the DJ booth we have the incredible Heartbreak, and frankly one of the best DJs I’ve seen over the past couple of years, Andy Blake.

Now let’s see that in easy to digest note form.

24th April – 7pm till 3am
Slutty Fringe loves Free Fridays!
Cargo
, Rivington Street, EC2A

Live: My Tiger My Timing, Portasound, Line, Band of Skulls
DJs: Heartbreak, Andy Blake, Slutty Fringe

Why not have a little taster of what you can expect, here’s My Tiger My Timing and Portasound in action.
