Well this is a special moment in Slutty Fringe history, for a long time now we’ve wanted to have our favourite DJs and producers put together exclusive mixes for the site. Now after much backroom horse trading, bribery and threats we are pleased to finally launch the Slutty Fringe Mix Series.

Each week we’ll be uploading a new mix recorded exclusively for your pleasure by some of the biggest and best names in the business, from world famous superstar DJs to up and coming talents (and then sometimes ourselves).

To kick things off we asked one of the best DJs/remixers/producers plying his wares in old London town today, Tronik Youth, to step up to the plate and deliver the inaugural mix in the series. Seeing as he’s playing at this Saturday’s Slutty Fringe party the poor chap probably didn’t have a get out, still he has delivered in spades.

Signed to Back Yard he’s been responsible for some of our favourite speaker smashing records over the past year or so, not to mention his attention grabbing remixes remixes for the likes of Chromeo, Gossip, New Young Pony Club and Simian Mobile Disco.

You’d think that would keep him busy enough but oh no not content with all that he’s just about to launch his own re-edits label, No Dice, too. We had a very quick word with Mr Youth to fill us in on what he’s up to and the mix he produced for us.

Slutty Fringe: Hello, how the devil are you?

Tronik Youth: Good.. Knee deep in edits/tracks/recording at the moment.

SF: So what have you got coming up?

TY: New label No Dice Edits has just launched with No Dice Vol.1 with edits from me… We have some big name people lined up for vol.2 and 3.

SF: Can you tell us a little bit about your mix?

TY: Basically it’s a good representation of the style i’m playing out at the moment, def a good blend of old and new. Known and unknown.

SF: Ok, so if you were mexican wrestler what would your name be?

TY: El Remixos.

SF: And when was the last time you rode a dodgem ?

TY: At Sonar last year… I always go and it’s a tradition to go on the bumper cars at least once… Whatever state I’m in.

SF: Finally, and most importantly just why do you think Slutty Fringe is so great?

TY: Slutty anything is good ha ha.

SF: Indeed! See you on Saturday!

Slight change of line up at this Saturday’s Slutty Fringe party at The Big Chill House, sadly word has reached us that Chik Budo’s drummer has only gone and done himself an injury playing football and is out of action for the forseeable.

Thankfully coming off the bench in injury time to score the winning goal is our own :Kinema:, who at very short notice have agreed to come up from Brighton and cold rock the spot.

The rest of the party is as was, so come down and be entertained by the disco-punk stylings of Shock Defeat! and then thrill to the sounds of disco jockeys such as Andy Blake, Tronik Youth, Rory Phillips, Flammette and many more.

It’s spread across two floors, it’s free before 10 and just £5 after. Can’t say fairer than that.

Anyway here’s another mix from probably one of my favourite ever DJs Andy Blake to keep you going in the meantime, recorded on his recent jaunt to Brazil it should give you a good idea what to expect upstairs on Saturday.

On Thursday the 25th our good friends from South London, Off Modern celebrate the launch of their first full colour, risograph printed journal at London’s finest gallery the ICA.

The publication explores and illuminates the most exciting aspects of the ICA’s programme, and turns an inquisitive eye on the arts as a whole. It also showcases young creative talent and highlights emerging artists and creatives who are already shaping the cultural landscape and will definitely influence the way we see tomorrow.

Along with all the usual excitement Off Modern bring to the table, they’ll also be some deadly Dj sets from New Cross’s Nasty McQuaid, man about town Ronojoy Dam, collective Zineswap and the illusive Fervent Moon. So get down early, get yourself a limited edition publication and get your dance on.

For more information check out the event at the ICA website here or the Facebook event here.

Caribou has a new album out soon called Swim, lots of people are excited about it, rightly so too.

Danish types Oh No Ono like Caribou so much they persuaded the Snaithster to remix their track Eleanor Speaks, with the resulting techno pound being something quite removed from the original.

Caribou used to be called Manitoba.

We loved his album Up In Flames - it sounded like Spiritualised putting down the How To Arrange An Orchestra book, swapping smack for MDMA and going on a ramshackle journey through percussion and melody.

Jacknuggeted is a perfect example of this – for those wishing to investigate Caribou as Manitoba we reccommend Up In Flames.

Things we like #705/6/7/8

The Wire trivia
acid dipped techno freakouts
Discos
Sluts

Combining all four is the Body In The Thames Disco Slut remix of Fuzzy Dunlop by Anglo/Swede duo Dadahack – a name familiar to those that read Discodust, and relief for Wiley, Bloc Party & Gwendolyn Stefani who’ll have been wondering whats happened to their producers.

The above remix is available in all 9 minutes of it’’s glory from here

Dadahack’s forthcoming album Tap3 is notable for eschewing the CD format for something all together more individual

Perusing the internet for some creative inspiration I happened to stumble across these beautifully intricate, yet remarkably simple, animated gifs by David Ope. Check his blog for what seems to be an unending transfixing experiment of monochrome movement.

Quick party update as we have a few fun things going off over the next week or two that you may wish to stick in your diary…

First up this Friday I’ll be DJ’ing alongside Keep Up’s Tom Central (and looking at the flyer what would appear be about half of London) in the basement of the Queen of Hoxton at the launch party of Life In Marvellous Times, a new night from the Soundcrash team.

Making a pleasant change from our usual electro/disco business it’s more of a hip-hop/dubstep kind of affair, I’ve got a load of cheap guestlist so drop me a line if you want in on that..

Saturday sees me tread a well worn path to Camden for Be, this week’s live guests include Boy Of Girl, Dimbleby & Capper and Sparrow & The Workshop. For guestlist info drop them a line here, and whatever you do please turn up before 11 or you’ll just be stuck in the queue and miss the fun.

Then next week the entire Slutty Fringe crew step up for our own party at The Big Chill House, alongside ourselves and agent Flammette, you’ve got the likes of Tronik Youth, Andy Blake, Rory Phillips and the New Cross Housing Authority on the decks and live sets from Shock Defeat! and Chik Budo.

Needless to say it will be all kinds of fun, so let’s get you in the mood with a couple of tracks from the bands playing and a mix from Andy Blake recorded live in Brazil last month.
